Approximately 1,000 VfB fans enjoyed the warm summer temperatures as they watched the public training session at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion. Following the warm-up and competitive passing drills, the players completed diverse exercises with shooting practice – much to the delight of the spectators, who cheered each goal. The session was rounded off with an intensive training match, before the players and coaches took time to sign autographs and take selfies with the fans.

Reaction to the training session

The session was a first for new signing Nick Woltemade in front of the VfB faithful – and he was immediately taken with it: “Today was great for everyone involved. The weather was nice, the session was good and for us players it was obviously fantastic to play in front of the fans here watching us train.”

Justin Diehl was also able to show VfB supporters in Bad Cannstatt what he can do for the first time, and completed the full session following his injury-enforced substitution in the friendly in Hollenbach.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß was also pleased that spectators were present: “It was fun today. We’re delighted to have every fan that comes to watch us train. Our public sessions last season were always a highlight for us. We hope that our supporters continue to come and watch us train in numbers this season too.”
