VfB head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “From our point of view, the game was okay in the first half. We wanted to have control and get numbers forward, which we managed to do, but we weren’t present enough in the opposition penalty area. After conceding an unfortunate goal, we reacted well and got back into the game at 1-1. Our performance was also decent after the break initially. The sending-off for Atakan Karazor was very frustrating for us because we had to finish the game with 10 men after a clearly incorrect decision. I think the team showed good body language, though. The late goal is important for our morale. It doesn’t feel that great at the moment, but after the late goal we’re glad that we managed to come back even with a man less.”

Alexander Nübel: “At the end of the day, it’s points that count and we’ve picked up one point from a tricky away match at Wolfsburg. VfL were passive – we were the ones making the running. Things went against us in the second half. The red card changed the course of the game. We’re glad that we got it back to 2-2 in the end. I’m very happy that Deniz got the goal because every point is important.”

Deniz Undav: “We always want to win. I hold my hands up for Wolfsburg’s second goal. I was determined to make amends and I’m happy to have scored the equaliser at the end.”
