After the game, Jablonski admitted that his decision to send off Karazor for a second bookable offence was wrong. In addition, the TV pictures prove conclusively that Karazor did not hit his opponent in the challenge concerned, but that he himself was actually fouled.
“It was a clear error by the referee, so it’s logical to lodge a protest against the second yellow card,” explained board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth. “The referee has apologised for his mistake and Atakan has accepted this apology. That testifies to his character. Nevertheless, we had to play without our captain for 30 minutes at Wolfsburg and now we’re supposed to also do that in the next home match against TSG Hoffenheim? A double punishment cannot be fair.”
