Defender Anthony Rouault wasted little time in settling into life at VfB after joining the Bad Cannstatt club on loan from Toulouse, making his debut in a 3-1 victory at 1. FSV Mainz 05 on 16 September.
Rouault has appeared in 17 Bundesliga games and two DFB Cup ties this season, starting on ten occasions and registering two assists. The 22-year-old’s deal has been extended automatically until 30 June 2027 after VfB’s place in the Bundesliga next season was mathematically confirmed at the weekend.
VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Anthony has hardly needed any time to settle in, even though VfB is his first club outside his native France. He can play in various positions across the defence, he exudes calmness and has quickly developed into an important member of our squad. He’s also very eager to learn and still has a great deal of potential. We’re delighted that Anthony’s with us and that he’ll remain a VfB player beyond the summer.”
Anthony Rouault: “I’m very happy to continue playing for VfB in the future. The squad and the staff – not to mention the positive results – have helped me settle in. I’ve been well received and I’ve been able to gain important, positive experience here so far.”
