After Tuesday morning’s open training session, the VfB players who aren’t currently on international duty took the time to sign autographs and take selfies with the fans. There was a great deal of applause, laughter and even one or two jokes, which went down well. During the session itself, every ball that landed in the back of the net – during shooting drills and the practice match – was greeted by a cheer. Among the 800 or so fans in attendance at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion were plenty of children, eager to enjoy the last week of the school holidays in Baden-Württemberg.
Kaiserslautern friendly sold out
“It was an intense training session, but you can tell we’re in good spirits,” said Atakan Karazor, who was delighted to see so many supporters watching on from the sidelines. After conceding a late equaliser in the 3-3 draw with 1. FSV Mainz 05, the players are focusing their attention on the challenges ahead. “We have to make sure we play the full 90 minutes and stick together until the end,” added the skipper. “We have the quality to win a lot of games this season.”
Thursday’s friendly against 1. FC Kaiserslautern is already sold out, with around 3,000 fans expected at the Robert-Schlienz-Stadion at 15:00 CEST. The game will also be shown live and free of charge on VfB TV.
