RB Leipzig will travel to 1. FSV Mainz 05 on Saturday for matchday 10 of the Bundesliga season (15:30 CET).

Squad news | 3rd November
- Unfortunately, Dani Olmo had to go off injured with a shoulder injury just seven minutes after being brought on. Our number 7️ suffered an acromioclavicular joint separation in yesterday’s 6-0 win against Köln. He had surgery on his shoulder, which was a success.
The Spaniard will be out of action for RBL for several weeks. Get well soon, Dani!
- Kevin Kampl was rested against Köln. He was back on the pitch in our midweek game against Wolfsburg, replacing Xaver Schlager in the 73rd minute.
LONG-TERM INJURIES
- Willi Orban injured his knee when playing for Hungary against the Czech Republic in September. He is now training individually.
- El Chadaille Bitshiabu (MCL tear) will resume individual training next week.
- Timo Schlieckis currently doing rehabilitation work at the Athlete Performance Center in Thalgau. The goalkeeper injured his knee during training.

- “I don’t want to talk about it, because I’m not sure if people would appreciate my input. People might also misinterpret what I say. I’ve seen a lot of things being written about people chiming in with their opinions. It’s also happening with other coaches, like Steffen Baumgart (Köln) and Urs Fischer (Union).
That’s just how life is as a head coach. I’m going to send Bo a message. I’ve just watched the video where he says goodbye and have to say fair play to him. I have to admit – it really touched me. Bo is a great bloke, a great person and a top coach.”

- “Changing coaches could work out well for Mainz. We don’t really know what we’re going to come up against tomorrow. The fact is that we’re playing a high-quality team on Saturday. They’ve also showed a lot of fight in recent weeks. They looked very tidy against FC Bayern but conceded at the wrong moments.
They really don’t belong at the bottom of the table, but you’ve got to factor in morale. Bo’s influence will probably still be felt when they play tomorrow.
We’re playing to win in Mainz tomorrow. We’ve got to be ready for everything that awaits us there, like the intensity, the pitch and the fantastic atmosphere. We’ve got to make sure that we play our own game. We want to be better than we were on Tuesday in a lot of areas.”

- “We have an extra day to recover, which is a really good thing at the moment. We’ll evaluate who’s fresh enough to play later on and then draw up a good line-up for tomorrow.
We were really annoyed that we got knocked out of the Pokal in Wolfsburg, because it was completely avoidable. We played okay, but okay isn’t good enough in the DFB-Pokal.
We want our performances to be more consistent with so many new players. To get straight to the point, the next step we want to take is winning precisely this sort of game.”

- “It’s a shame that we couldn’t give it more of a go. We’re really annoyed about it, but we’ve got a lot of tough games coming up in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
Everything’s connected. If David Raum’s cross went in, it would’ve been 1-1. We also could’ve been talking about the game differently if we had 11 men for the whole game, just like we did at the start of the second half. The fact is that we don’t like losing. It’s not a nice feeling. We want things to be different again this weekend and the boys are going to try and do exactly that.”

…Fabio Carvalho’s development
- “We’ve got a small, but quality squad. Fabio is a big talent. He started well and integrated himself quickly. It was clear, however, that he wouldn’t be starting week in week out due to the quality of the squad.
On the whole, he’s been really good. But it all boils down to showing that you’ve got what it takes to play at the top level every day. It’s the same for all the other players, like Christoph Baumgartner or Benjamin Sesko. You’ve got to show me what you’ve got if you’re not in the starting XI.
Every training session, no matter how small, is important and I always watch them closely. I remember what I see in the sessions, but I can’t always give the boys an instant reward. I can only pick ten outfield players, but I always try to give everyone a chance.”
