Here are the reactions to the 1-1 friendly match against Paris St. Germain.
Marco Rose:
- “One or two of the injured players will come back in the short term. We cannot replace Dani Olmo, but it is clear that we have to try to find a solution for his position. We will keep our eyes open, but only act if it make sense for us.
Xavi is an incredibly important player for us, we all know that. He can make the difference, he can change situations on the pitch. He has been training hard since day one and has set himself a lot of goals. We took him out early in this game, but he will be approaching his top form step by step.”
Willi Orban
- “It was an intense game against a good opponent. We had our moments and were relatively strong. We had to invest a lot to win balls. We made good decisions, but also some not so good ones. Overall it was a good test, a fair draw. Now we’re looking forward to next week!
We saw last year what the game is like with and without Xavi. He is an incredibly important player for us, he quickly internalized what we want to do against the ball. That’s why we are happy that he is with us for at least another year.”
David Raum
- “It was nice to play a friendly match like that in our stadium in front of our fans, it was great support. I got the opportunity to add 45 minutes of practice in this friendly. It was good to play against an opponent of this caliber, we were able to compete with the best team from France.
We will take a look at the game. We have one week left and then the season gets going. Away games in the DFB Pokal are always hard. But we want to get our first win in Essen and then at the start of the Bundesliga season against Bochum.”
Lois Openda
- “It was nice to be back and play here in our stadium in front of our fans. Scoring a goal is always good. I’m happy to be playing with my teammates again. We are now ready for the official matches. We have so many good players, Xavi is back and maybe someone else will come, we don’t know yet. We will give it our all and we want to be even better than last season.”
