  • “We wanted to score an early goal today and we did just that, but apart from that it was a really frantic game. Unfortunately, our passing wasn’t up to scratch today, but we deserved the win at the end of the day.

Lukas Klostermann coming on had a real impact on the game. He brought a lot of stability to our game. Darmstadt often looked dangerous on the attack with their long balls over the top.  They showed a lot of physicality and the ground was very slippery. A fair few teams will have a hard time here this season.”

  • “It was definitely a hard-earned victory. I don’t think we played well in a lot of aspects of our game today. We can definitely work on our build-up play, for instance. Obviously, Darmstadt played well, but we didn’t find enough solutions. It was important to pick up the three points.

At the end of the game, we should have used the space better, But like I said, Darmstadt defended well and closed down the spaces. They put us under pressure a lot, which made it difficult for us to play our normal passing game. We got our hands dirty and we’re happy to be taking all three points back to Leipzig.”
