“We felt that the goals were coming” | Match reaction

After a trick first half, RB Leipzig ultimately romped to a 5-1 win over VfB Stuttgart on Friday night. We’ve gathered all the post-match reaction from the RBL camp!

Marco Rose

  • “We already did a lot of things well in the first 45. Stuttgart are a good footballing side and demonstrated that for periods.

We really got into the game well after the first 15 minutes. We had chances and looked dangerous. Despite the resistance that VfB put up after the break, we looked even sharper, scored lots of goals and fully deserved to win 5-1.”

Willi Orbán

  • Emotions were high at the break. We took that energy into the second half and got a really good goal though Benny, who pressed the goalkeeper well.

We felt that the goals were coming and ultimately deserved the win. You could see the spirit in the team and we were particularly motivated to get a result in front of our fans.”

Benjamin Henrichs

  • “Stuttgart started well. They’re not easy to play against. We tried to play through the centre too often in the first half, but we had more width in our game after the break and got our goals..

We can’t start thinking that we’re title material after one 5-1 win. We need to show consistency if we want to be challenging this season, and that’s something we’re working on.”
