OnThisDay: The Red Bulls Move into Their New Home

On July 24, 2010, the time had come.

The Red Bull Arena was officially opened and RB Leipzig – just promoted to the Regionalliga – put in an outstanding performance against the reigning Bundesliga runners-up FC Schalke 04. Nico Frommer wrote his name in the history books of our stadium with his goal to make it 1-0. At the end of a turbulent match, there was a remarkable 1-2 against “Royal Blue”.

Steven Lewerenz scored the first official goal in our new home just two weeks later in a 1-1 draw against Türkiyemspor Berlin. In total, we celebrated twelve wins in our debut season, and the Red Bulls’ goal music was played a total of 34 times.

A lot has happened since 2010, and we have celebrated several great moments of football with you in our stadium
