Marco Rose: “It’s a privilege to be here”

Coach Rose im Gespräch!

The first training and the first night in New York are behind us. In an interview, a cheerful Marco Rose shared his view on several topics.

It’s pretty fun here

Marco Rose on…

… traveling and the time difference with the US

  • “It wasn’t all that bad. We have great conditions here and were able to train well. This is exactly how we imagined it would be. This is a well-organized trip and we’re having fun. It’s an absolute privilege to be here in this worldly city.”

… the training content during the tour

  • “We had to organize our preparation differently this summer because of the EURO 2024. We made a point to quickly internalize automatisms and drill our core principles. Today we did a lot of 10 against 10, and practiced many game forms beforehand. It’s a somewhat special preparation, but so far it’s been very pleasant.”

Marco Rose…

… regarding the squad

  • “We’ll still have a slightly shorter squad again, but I like that. Training will remain highly intense. When our EURO players are all back, the quality will only improve.”

… on the youth players joining the tour

  • “The boys have been here from day one. They’re fun, they’re giving it their all. You can see a lot of potential. To be here is a great experience for them. They’ve earned it with two strong weeks of preparation.”

… Castello Jr. at the Olympics

  • “He will come back in good shape. He won the first two games with France, so there is still a bit more to come for him. This is great preparation, he’ll be in top shape by the time he comes back and will add more edge to the competition for playing minutes.”

Marco Rose on…

… Christoph Baumgartner’s injury

  • Baumi made a wrong move while on vacation. The pain he had suffered from the injury during the international matches was actually gone. He cut his vacation short by a week early to get fit.

We looked at it together and decided that we wanted to tackle it as quickly as possible. It’s nothing to be concerned about. We hope to see him back on the pitch soon.”

… Nicolas Seiwald’s development

  • Nici performed when it mattered the most. I’m thinking, for example, of the Supercup in Munich or the away game at Man City. He will continue to develop in his second year.

We are fully convinced of him and know that he will make steady progress with us. Nici feels comfortable here, but also knows that there will always be stiff competition.”
