Marco Rose (47) spoke about RB Leipzig’s training start this past Tuesday.
Here are all of the our head coach’s statements!
“We want to have something worth celebrating again”
Marco Rose on…
… the start of training without several key players
- “We were aware that was going to be the case. It’s not really a complicated situation for us. We have 11 players who were called up for the Euro 2024, as well as Castello Jr. and Ilaix Moriba who will be going to the Olympics, and Chad Bitshiabu, an Under-19 National Team player that won’t be available either.
We are however proud that so many of our players will be representing their countries, and we take in this situation as it is.“
… the kick-off to training
- “We had a long time off, we’re relaxed and back packed with energy. That means we want and have to go back on the pitch. Besides our players from the first team, we also have highly motivated youth players. That makes things fun.
Every youth player gets their chance and the possibility to be called up to the senior team and play. It’s pretty fun to work with the younger players, we’ll be keeping a close eye on them in the upcoming days.
The players that were called up will slowly make their way back and they will be integrated step by step, in a way that allows us to be at our top preparation by the time our first official match arrives, for the DFB-Cup at Rot-Weiss Essen.
He’s in the right place with our goalkeeper coach, Frederik Gößling.
Marco Rose regarding…
… Maarten Vandevoordt
- “He’s a good guy, a really good goalkeeper, you can tell after the first training sessions. He wants to keep developing himself here and he’s in the right place (to do so) with out goalkeeper coach, Frederik Gößling. We’re very pleased that he’s where with us and that we get to work with him.“
… Assan Ouedraogo
- He’s a star in the making. A player with good physical presence, also great technical finesse, and that is dynamic. Assan is a really interesting player. We’ll give him the time required for him to get used to us. But we do assure that he’s very well developed and integrated. I have no worries when it comes to that, after my first impression of him. We’re convinced we signed a super player.“
Assan is a very interesting player.
Marco Rose on…
… the UEFA EURO 2024
- “Of course we’re keeping up with the tournament. I was in two of the games in Leipzig. The group stage was proof that there are no small national teams anymore – something similar to the state of club football as of some years ago. You have to take every rival seriously and work on defeating them.“
… Dani Olmo’s EURO
- “We know what Dani is capable of when he is fit. He’s an absolute top player, which he showed against Germany. Dani Olmois capable of complicating things against any opponent.“

Our new players in interview!
Marco Rose regarding…
… his contract renewal, until 2026
- “We were all on the same page regarding how ambitious this club is. We all agreed on the fact that, in two years, the length of the new contract, we should be able to have something to show for our work and then keep on collaborating together.
I’m really happy in the club, in the city, with my team, my co-workers, and above all the people in this fantastic city. That’s why there really wasn’t much to discuss, to be honest. Everything seemed clear from the start.“
