Jersey Launch and Visiting the Giants: Our Tuesday in the US Tour

What a day!

Tuesday was a day that really stood out: The squad was out training during the morning, following came an afternoon and evening with plenty.

Here’s a sneak peek into a day in New York.

US Tour: Day 3

Off into the weight room

On Tuesday, our head coach Marco Rose called up his team for an intensive, almost two-hour session at the New York Red Bulls training ground. In addition to drilling formations, our boys worked on their form in the weight room.

Afterwards, Kevin Kampl was available to answer questions from the media. And our number 44 was, as usual, his chatty self.

“His place will not be filled any time soon”

German Football History

After hard work comes pleasure. Lois Openda, Assan Ouedraogo and Mo Simakan had a lot of fun. The RBL trio – all big fans of US sports such as basketball and football – accepted an invitation from the NFL team, New York Giants, and were allowed to try their hand at kicking a football.

Our players were coached by none other than Markus Kuhn. The 38-year-old was an NFL professional between 2012 and 2016. Kuhn initially played for the New York Giants for three years, then one year with the New England Patriots. The Mannheim native is the first German to score a touchdown in the NFL.

Our boys quickly discovered that kicking a football isn’t that easy. Assan Ouedraogo: “It was harder than expected, but it was great fun and a great experience.”

Our new third kit

Our season kits are complete. After the Home Jersey and Away Jersey, the new PUMAthird was revealed on Tuesday. The place for the launch was no other than Times Square, right in the heart of New York.

Visiting the Red Bull Arena

The last item on the agenda was a visit to the League Cup match between the New York Red Bulls and the top Mexican club Pachuca C.F. Emil Forsberg’s team, who was unable to play due to injury, lost 5:4 on penalties.
