Marco Rose:
- “Big compliment to my team. It was a deserved and important victory. The way it came about was also the way we planned and wanted it, even if we know that it can’t be taken for granted after the last few weeks. We scored two goals from set pieces and defended the opponent’s set pieces well. We showed something, we were ready, but we didn’t go overboard. That’s good for the stadium and the stadium is good for us.”
“It’s important that our two young guys up front are in good shape and scoring. The return of Willi Orban is just as important. He was important before the first goal with his presence, how he goes in there and he gives a lot to our game.”
Willi Orban
- “It wasn’t an easy moment for us after the start of the new year, but we were always aware of what we could do and we also knew what we had to do against this tough opponent, Union. We played a good game and deserved to win. So we have to move on now.”
“I was out for a long time, but I felt good today and lasted 70 minutes. In these moments you need experienced players. I’m also extremely happy for Pete that he was able to make his comeback and keep a clean sheet.”

- “It felt very nice to be in goal again in the Bundesliga. This is my city, this is my stadium. So it’s special for me to be back. Luckily the boys made it easy for me. It was a very mature performance from the entire team; we didn’t allow much, played dominantly and earned three points.”
“I supported Janis when he played and it’s the same the other way around. Of course I want to do my best now to stay in goal. But the most important thing is that we succeed as a team.”

- “The win is really good because it hasn’t been an easy few weeks for us. We’re over the moon, especially that we kept a clean sheet. We dominated the game for 90 minutes and could have even scored one or two more goals .Everyone threw everything into it, we performed as a unit and had the fans behind us. That’s why we’re happy to finally have the first three points of the new year.
