Nici Seiwald on…

…his first impressions of RBL

  • “The first few days here have been good. I feel at home here and there are a few familiar faces in the squad, which helps. I’m slowly getting to know the other lads, which is what a training camp is good for.

The quality of the training sessions is good and it’s a bit of a higher tempo than in Salzburg. I still need to get used to that, but it’s getting better from day to day.”

…Marco Rose

  • He’s a very good coach. He pushes the team and always seeks players out for one-on-one talks, which I like. I’m looking forward to working with him and am confident that I will be able to improve under him.”

…his decision to join RB Leipzig

  • “The club management really put in a lot of effort and showed me that they really wanted to have me in the team. I think that I fit in well to the style of play here and that I can help the team with the skills I bring to the table.”

…his strengths and room for improvement

  • I like playing out of possession. Other skills I have are in winning tackles and my body language. I like to press and to chase the ball.

I can still stand to improve when we have possession. Especially when looking at goal involvements, there’s definitely room for improvement there.”

…comparisons with Konrad Laimer

  • “We’re two different players. I tend to play a bit further back than he does. I’m just trying to do my job here, not to replace Konni. I know the qualities he has, but I’m also trying to play my own game and help the team.”

…what he’s looking forward to at RBL and in the Bundesliga

  • I’m looking forward to playing at home in the Red Bull Arena and in front of our fans. There are lots of attractive fixtures in the Bundesliga and full stadiums to look forward to, with great atmospheres. I’ve watched the league on TV before, but I’m now really looking forward to getting to play in it.”

…his hobbies and role models

  • “Outside of football, I also enjoy playing beach volleyball. I also like going out to eat. I’ve heard that there are lots of good restaurants to try in Leipzig. I’m looking forward to that.”

As a kid, I thought Cristiano Ronaldo was really cool. Kevin De Bruyne has been a player that I’ve enjoyed watching for several years now. He plays simple and effective football, so I can definitely learn from that.”
