The Press Conference after #RBLWOB

Marco Rose

  • “I’m happy about an important win for us. Wolfsburg made life difficult for us. You can also see that in the game statistics. There was a balanced possession rate. We’re also close to each other when it comes to passes. We weren’t bad, but we weren’t really good either.

“Wolfsburg repeatedly made it difficult for us to press. That’s why it was even more important that we stayed together and stuck with it. The goal for 2-0 came at the right time. Then we also needed Pete Gulacsi once or twice. But in the end it was a deserved win for us.”

Everything #RBLWOB

Willi Orban

  • “A serious home win, we did what we had to do. It wasn’t easy today. Wolfsburg were very flexible in building up the game today, which is why we had problems applying real pressure.

“Then came Dani Olmo’s beautiful goal to break the deadlock. That obviously helps you in a game like this, and we controlled the game throughout. So it can go on.

“We’re in form and want to win the last five Bundesliga games this season.”

Peter Gulacsi

  • “In my opinion, we didn’t play a good first half and made too many mistakes with the ball. That’s why it was even more important that we were able to go into halftime with a lead. Things looked better from our side in the second half, so we left the pitch as deserved winners today.

“The three goals we scored today were very nice goals. Dani Olmo’s goal came a bit out of nowhere. A strong goal. We have this quality, we know it. The goals from Sesko and Lois were also good. We have to keep it that way in the remaining five league games. We’re very happy about this victory.”

Benjamin Sesko

“We knew it wouldn’t be easy today. Especially in the first half, Wolfsburg made life difficult for us and defended very compactly. We didn’t have much space to attack through the middle.

“In the second half we were able to play against a tiring Wolfsburg and had our chances. In the end it’s the win that counts, so we have to keep going.

“It was great how Lois Openda opened up the space before the goal. That was very important for me to be able to score. Then Xavi put the ball perfectly into my path. The fact that I could then complete the attack with a goal is great.”

Dani Olmo

  • “I’m very happy to have scored here at the Red Bull Arena in front of our fans. The win today was very important for the rest of the season. We scored three nice goals and didn’t concede any. That counts.

“It’s cool that it was our 10th goal this season from outside the penalty area. We have a lot of good players in our ranks, and you can see that in statistics like that.”
