Christoph Baumgartner took a seat next to RBL head coach Marco Rose for Monday evening’s press conference in Manchester ahead of the clash against the current Champions League holders.
What does Baumi make of the upcoming game away at Manchester City?
Christoph Baumgartner on…
…the game at the Etihad Stadium
- “I haven’t played many Champions League games so far in my career. Playing away at City is big. I’m pleased to be able to play in front of this crowd against one of the best teams in Europe.”
…the tactical approach against Man City
- “It’ll be important that we find a middle ground. Of course it’s in our DNA that we want to keep on pressing the opposition. However, we also know that that’s not always going to be possible against Man City and there’s also going to be phases where we have to defend very deep.
What we do when we win the ball will also be decisive, how well and how bravely we play. But of course we’ll need a perfect day in order to get something here.”

Christoph Baumgartner on…
…RBL
- “We’ve got a really close team and lots of quality in the side. Playing with the other lads is fun. That being said, we also know that we’ve got to push ourselves to the limit in every game in order to be successful. We weren’t at our best in Wolfsburg.
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has a burning desire to score goals and to be successful in each and every game and we have to be wary of that. We’ve got to have the belief that we can get goals from small chances.
I’m convinced that we’ve got the quality and the passion to do that and we want to demonstrate that from the off tomorrow.”
