Without a head coach, but movement on the transfer market | Union in check

Marco Rose on…

… Union Berlin

  • Union is a tough opponent who has stabilized [on the field]. They have won three and drawn once in their last six Bundesliga games. And even in Munich, where they only lost 0-1, they defended very diligently and passionately.

It’s important to know what to expect. To get scoring chances, we’ll have to work hard. And we’ll have to defend their transition situations and set pieces.

But it’s important that we do what we’ve worked on over the months. We need trust and conviction and want to be active together with our fans.”

… the training week at Cottaweg

  • “It’s clear that the sun isn’t shining on our faces at the moment. Phases like the one we’re in right now sometimes happen. But of course we want to end that phase. We’ve worked well and with concentration and prepared intensively. Now it’s about working together to get going again with our fans in our stadium.

We want to experience a sense of success again because in the end there is only one currency, and these are results. And now we need one again.”

We have great confidence in both.
Marco Rose on Pete Gulacsi and Janis Blaswich

Marco Rose on…

… the standard situations

  • “A few weeks ago we didn’t allow much to come from the opponent’s normal situations and we were doing well there. We were very stable there in the first half of the season. Within just a few games we’re stuck there now. But we’ve addressed it [in training] and worked on it. Now it’s about implementing it.”

… the situation in goal

  • “Despite conceding five goals in Stuttgart, Janis Blaswichplayed a very decent game and even saved important chances. We spoke to both goalkeepers yesterday and we will play with Peter Gulacsi on Sunday. We always communicated it openly and transparently. In the end It’s not about Janis‘ performance, he did an excellent job and has developed very well.

Nevertheless, we change this weekend because we simply see the overall situation. And that means we have two top goalkeepers on equal terms. We lost three games in a row, this is also taken into account in the evaluation.

We want to try to provide new impetus in this position. We have great confidence in both. But it’s also important now that we don’t start talking about it every week.”

Marco Rose on…

… Union’s assistant coach Marie-Louise Eta, who spent time with RBL

  • “For me, her development is not extraordinary. We always talk about how we like to see women in male-dominated areas. And yet we always have the feeling that we have to do something special with it. Loui has earned and worked for it, and she’s now on the sidelines.

“She has quality, you could tell that the week she was with us. And she has personality. So that doesn’t surprise me.”
