Konrad Laimer has left RB Leipzig after six years and 190 games. We take a look back at his career with the club.
Konni made his RBL debut on 13th August 2017 in the DFB-Pokal; a 5-0 win over Sportfreunde Dorfmerkingen. He had to wait a while for his first goal with the club, which came in January 2019 in a 4-0 victory against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
The midfielder can look back on his time at RB Leipzig with pride: six years and two trophies, with his final game for the club culminating in lifting the DFB-Pokal after a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.
Double against BVB
One of the most iconic games of Konni’s RBL career came on 2nd April 2022. Leipzig defeated Borussia Dortmund 3-0 at the Signal Iduna Park, with Laimer having scored his only-ever brace for the Red Bulls within the opening half an hour. In the second half, he then set up Christo Nkunku to round off the three-goal victory.
Even more so in the important games, Laimer was always an engine in midfield, covering every blade of grass and leading the way for his teammates.
A fact for the history books
Of the 14 games in which Konni found the back of the net, RB Leipzig ended the game victorious twelve times. Incredible!
All in all, the midfielder was a handful for any opponent and could score with both feet while pressing for 90 minutes.
In defence, the Austrian was a key part of the team too, his team-best eleven tackles won in the DFB-Pokal last season one of the reasons behind RBL only conceding two goals in the competition.
