Another Red Bull! Benny Henrichs called up to Germany squad

Benny is going!

Benjamin Henrichs (27) was called up for the European Championships in Germany by national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

It is the right-footed player’s first participation in a European Championship. Benny made his debut for the German senior national team on November 11, 2016 in the starting line-up in the 8-0 win against San Marino.

In the summer of 2017, our number 39 won the Confed Cup in Russia with the German national team. In 2021, he took part in the Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Benny played the last of his 14 senior international matches in the 2:1 win against the Netherlands in March.

Benny Henrichs on his call up:

  • “I’m really looking forward to the European Championships and I’m overjoyed to be there. In the end, hard work pays off. Unfortunately, I missed the 2022 World Cup and I have to admit that it was a bitter blow for me. Now I have more or less fought my way back. I was there for every action taken by Julian Nagelsmann and recently received the news from him that I would be part of the team at the home European Championships. Afterwards there were calls straight away to my family and my boys. We all danced together and were happy. It was just a really nice feeling.”

About the DFB Announcement Campaign:

  • “I think it’s new and I think it’s really cool. So when you see, for example, how Jonathan Tah has now been called up by Grandma Lotti, very sweet. Toni Rüdiger from a kebab shop in Berlin where he always eats. David Raum with the announcement at the airport or, for me, the announcement by the school class in the final nomination video. It just shows that we are a team that represents the whole country and we take every fan on board. This is a great idea and also a good way to connect the squad with the whole nation.”
