Dortmund up next!

Yussuf Poulsen put RBL 2-0 up against Heidenheim last time out, his second goal in as many games after he also found the net in Wolfsburg. Leipzig’s next match is now against Dortmund on Saturday night (18:30 CET).

We spoke to our Danish striker ahead of the trip to face BVB.

Training on Tuesday

Yussuf Poulsen on…

…a full week of training

  • “It’s the first time in a while that we’re all together on the training ground. It’s good for our coordination and team chemistry.”

…Borussia Dortmund

  • “We’re excited to play BVB and are fully focused on the game. Looking back at past years, we’ve always been well prepared to play them. We want to build on those performances and get another win there this weekend.”

…his partnership with Lois Openda

  • “We’re two different types of strikers and work well together. Lois Openda likes to run in behind and get the ball there. I used to be quick in my youth, but not as much anymore. We set up each other nicely in the last game, we’re a good team.”

Yussuf Poulsen on…

…converting chances

  • “Sometimes in football the ball just doesn’t want to go in the back of the net. We’re not that clinical at the moment, but I’d rather be creating lots of chances instead of none at all. We’ll definitely get back that luck and calmness in front of goal.

…the EURO 2024 draw

  • “I will face Benjamin Sesko and Slovenia in our first game. We actually came up against each other during the qualifiers. We drew the first game and then we won the second one, which will give us confidence for the tournament.”

…Christmas time

  • “I’m really looking forward to Christmas. Spending lots of time with my family always means a lot to me. I obviously see my kids and wife more often, but the rest of my loved ones less frequently. We’ll hopefully have a lovely time together in Copenhagen.”
