Match report

Marco Rose

  • “We put in an excellent performance today and played a really good game. That was exactly what we needed today. After a lot of hard-fought victories lately, it was nice for us to really get into our flow and we had felt that we were capable of doing that today. I’m really happy for the boys.

Things go so quickly in football. Three weeks ago we had three straight games without a win. We’ve struggled at times in recent games, so I’m really happy that we were able to do the business today, keeping the intensity high and not allowing them anything. We more than deserved our win across the 90 minutes.”

Loïs Openda

  • “It was a great game and we had excellent team spirit. We controlled the match and scored six goals at home. It was a perfect evening.

Xavi set up both of my goals with really good passes. I’m very happy to have scored twice today. I have a lot of confidence at the moment and feel very settled int he team. My family being here with me in Leipzig also helps a lot.”

Lukas Klostermann

  • “It was a good team performance today. A lot of what we talked about was executed brilliantly. We found space well, made good runs at the right times and really enjoyed ourselves. I think it was a wonderful evening of football here in Leipzig

Everyone gives their all in training and in games, which really pushes us on. We played with a back-three today and that gave us space in attack, which we made the most of with some great football. All in all, it was a superb display.”

David Raum

  • “I’m over the moon to have scored again. The coach has always sad that I should push up like a winger when we’re playing with a back-three or a back-five.

Even when we’re playing in a back-four though, I can still get forward. I’ve worked hard on improving my game defensively. That was important and it’s nice to get praise. I’m pleased that things are going well at the moment.”
