FC Augsburg have completed the signing of free agent Marius Wolf. The 29-year-old, who reached the Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund last season, put pen to paper on a three-year contract with FCA until 30th June 2027 on Thursday morning. The right-back then took part in training with his new teammates for the first time.
Wolf brings a wealth of experience at the highest level
Wolf’s career has seen him feature 175 times in the Bundesliga (13 goals, 21 assists) during stints at Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt, 1. FC Köln, Hertha BSC and Hannover 96. A five-cap Germany international, Wolf has also featured 19 times in the Champions League for BVB.
“I’m looking forward to being able to continue on in the Bundesliga with Augsburg after my departure from Dortmund. I see FCA as a club with high ambitions, who are prepared to give it everything on the pitch. It’s a great fit for me, because I want to do everything I can to help the team with my style of play,” said Wolf.
“Through hard work and talent, Marius Wolf has been able to enjoy an impressive career that has seen him play for Germany as well. He’s a real team player who will contribute attacking impetus to our team, along with his energy and mindset. In signing him, we have been able to provide ourselves with an additional option on the flank, both in attack and in defense. We’re pleased that Marius has made the decision to join us and wish him all the best for a strong start and successful time at FCA,” said sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
