Mahmut Kücüksahin signs professional contract
Future prospect pens a long-term deal
Midfield talent Mahmut Kücüksahin has signed a professional contract at FC Augsburg until 30th June 2027, with the option of a further year. The 20-year-old has been at FCA since U14s and made his Bundesliga debut for the first team last season away at Bayer Leverkusen.
Kücüksahin, who was part of the FCA side that became U19 Bundesliga South/South-West champions in 2022 and who made a remarkable comeback from an ACL tear last year, has already made 17 appearances for the U23s in the fourth tier. The Munich-born academy product will have plenty of opportunity to pick up some match practice in this division next season, whilst he will also regularly train with the first-team squad.
“From making my Bundesliga debut to now signing a long-term professional contract, I’m feeling very proud. FCA have shown me a clear career path and explained how I will be supported in getting there, which has very much convinced me. I’m really looking forward to my future at FCA. I will give my all in every training session and in every match, so that I can earn the opportunity to play more first-team matches,” commented Mahmut Kücüksahin.
“Mahmut is a future prospect from our academy who has impressed with his game intelligence and his on-the-ball ability. After fighting back from a serious injury last season, he was rewarded with his first Bundesliga cameo. In Mahmut, we see another young FCA player who is capable of making the jump to the Bundesliga. We’ll continue to support him as best we can and accompany him closely along his individual path so that we can maximise his development. We’re looking forward to the future together and we wish him the best of luck at FCA,” stated FCA’s sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
