Defender stays in the second tier

After his loan spell at Wehen Wiesbaden last season, FCA full-back Lasse Günther will remain in the second tier for the upcoming campaign. Günther, who made 24 appearances in 2023/24 and has played 7 times in the top flight, has agreed to move to Karlsruher SC on a season-long loan deal. IN order to facilitate the move, the 21-year-old has also signed an extension to his FCA contract until 2026. FCA have granted Karlsruhe an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season, but have also secured a buy-back clause.

“Despite the heartbreak of relegation and a few problems with injuries, I’ll look back very positively on my time at Wehen Wiesbaden. I was able to get a lot of playing time and prove myself in the 2. Bundesliga. At KSC, I now have the opportunity to push on and establish myself as a regular starter in a strong team,” says Günther.

“As an established club in the 2. Bundesliga, Karlsruhe offers a very good environment for Lasse to get playing time at a high level and at an ambitious club. We will continue to keep a close eye on Lasse’s development and wish him all the best and every success for his time in Karlsruhe,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Juredic.
