FCA sign goalkeeper Nediljko Labrović

The netminder is at the EUROs with Croatia

FC Augsburg have secured the services of Croatian international goalkeeper Nediljko Labrović. The 24-year-old, 1.96-metre-tall netminder joins from Croatian league runners-up HNK Rijeka and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract until 30th June 2029. The terms of the transfer have not been disclosed.

Labrović, who kept 18 clean sheets in 35 league games in the season just gone, is currently preparing for the European Championships in Germany with Croatia. The 24-year-old travelled at short notice from Croatia’s base in Neuruppin, Brandenburg to Augsburg in order to successfully pass his medical and sign the contract.

Labrović: “I couldn’t turn down this opportunity with FCA”

“I’m very pleased that this transfer could be completed, because FC Augsburg are an ambitious and attractive Bundesliga club. Playing in one of Europe’s top leagues has always been an important goal for me. My discussions with the club made it clear that I couldn’t turn down this opportunity at Augsburg. It’s perfect that we could get the deal done before the start of the EUROs, so I can fully concentrate first on the national team and then on FCA,” said Nediljko Labrović.

“In Nediljko Labrović, FCA have got a talented goalkeeper who is physically strong, has good athleticism and is experienced despite his young age. Nediljko earned his place in Croatia’s EUROs squad through his leadership and consistently good performances in Rijeka. We’re looking forward to working with him and wish him and Croatia the best of luck for EURO 2024,” said FCA sporting director Marinko Jurendic.
