Neymar ‘would love’ to join Arsenal as ‘rotation player’ in Mikel Arteta’s ‘technical’ system – Petit

Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit reckons Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil superstar Neymar “would love” to play for the Gunners.

Neymar cost PSG a world-record £198million when he signed from Barcelona in August 2017.

The 31-year-old has contributed to an impressive 195 goals in 173 appearances for the French champions.

Despite his undoubted ability, Neymar has a lot of baggage and is very injury prone, especially when it comes to his ankles, making him a pretty undesirable player to have.

PSG are reportedly planning a big summer rebuild and are willing to offload the Brazilian winger.

They do realise the sale of Neymar will be quite difficult to negotiate given his wage demands, and the fact they will probably want an extortionate transfer fee given the player is under contract until 2025, with the option for a further year.

Chelsea and Manchester United have both been linked with Neymar in recent months, with some reports stating the latter could make a move for him if they are bought by prospective owner Sheikh Jassim.

Arsenal are not in the running, but their former midfielder Petit has claimed Neymar would be up for the challenge at the Emirates.

Speaking to Genting Casino, Petit says the PSG star could come in and be used as a “rotation” player under Mikel Arteta.

“I think Neymar will suit any big club. If he comes to Arsenal, I would love it and I think he will too,” Petit said.

“I think he will enjoy the technical football and the style of Arsenal. He would love to play with younger players as he is quite mature himself.

‌”He will also have revenge on his mind with everything that he has been going through at PSG, and the tears he shed at the World Cup. I think he will be happy to move to Arsenal if that is the case.

Petit seems eager to see Neymar in England, saying a move to Manchester United would make him “very happy”.

‌”If he goes to Man Utd, I will be very happy for them and the Premier League.

“They have (Marcus) Rashford and (Jadon) Sancho who can man both wings, but also have the skills to rotate so Neymar can easily fit into that cycle.”
