Manchester United shot-stopper David De Gea is prepared to snub a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia to stay at Old Trafford.
There has been plenty of debate when it comes to the Spanish goalkeeper this season.
While Man United have improved defensively,
He did win the Premier League Golden Glove, after keeping 20 clean sheets in the league. Although his save percentage of 71.1% only ranks him as the 10th best goalkeeper in the league.
According to the latest reports, De Gea is only focused on a new deal at Old Trafford, despite being offered the chance to switch to Saudi Arabia.
Following Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema making the switch, plenty of Europe’s top stars are now considering joining the Saudi Pro League.
However, this does not interest De Gea at this stage. According to talkSPORT, De Gea has ‘agreed terms on a new contract’ but is waiting on confirmation from the Man United board.
While this will come as good news to some, not everyone seems to be excited over the prospect of a new contract for De Gea.
Roy Keane in particular hasn’t been a fan of the 32-year-old this season and
“I’d move him on quickly,” Keane told Sky Sports last month.
“He wouldn’t be for me, he’s not going to get Manchester United back winning trophies, absolutely not. The idea that the players are patting him on the back is ridiculous.”
Erik ten Hag has continued to publicly back the goalkeeper, even when he has faced criticism this year.
However, the club are said to be considering their options and could still sign a new goalkeeper, even if De Gea extends his stay.
that now might be the best time to move De Gea on, provided the club have the budget to replace him.
“They do need to get rid of him either now or if they’ve not got the money then obviously a year later is the maximum,” Neville told Sky Bet’s The Overlap.
“I don’t know how much money is there, so they might not be able to replace De Gea and, say, buy Harry Kane – if they were looking to do that – in one hit.”
David de Gea really was phenomenal at Manchester United for a time. Aaron Ramsdale and Jordan Pickford have pulled off some belting saves before too.
Man City are now ready to sell Jack Grealish in order to bring in a “big-name winger” in the summer, according to former Man Utd chief scout Mick Brown.
Man Utd legend Roy Keane insists that Cole Palmer “made a fool” of Lisandro Martinez on Sunday as the Red Devils drew 1-1 against Chelsea.
Roy Keane thinks Manchester United are “average at everything” and “way off in terms of getting back to that top four and competing”.
Roy Keane thinks players can be “selfish” and that the Man Utd squad care more about being ready for Ruben Amorim than Erik ten Hag losing his job.
Stick to Football has been enjoyable since first airing in September 2023, but followers have grown tired at the constant Manchester United-related guests.
