Man Utd outcast ‘reluctant’ to leave despite Tottenham interest as Ten Hag ponders next move

According to the latest reports, Harry Maguire is reluctant to leave Manchester United this summer despite the latest interest from Tottenham.

Maguire doesn’t seem to be part of Erik ten Hag’s plans going forward as he has struggled for regular minutes under the Dutch boss.

The 30-year-old has only started in eight league games under Ten Hag and

Despite his lack of game time though, the latest reports have suggested that Maguire is willing to stick around next season.

According to talkSPORT, the defender is ‘reluctant’ to leave as he wants to ‘fight for his place’ at the club.

This news will surely come as a frustration to Ten Hag as he has had his eyes set on Napoli defender Kim Min-jae.

Newcastle are also interested in the 26-year-old, although Man United have been in pole position for quite some time.

Regardless of that deal though, Maguire will still find it tough to displace either Raphael Varane or Lisandro Martinez.

Across all competitions, Maguire only made 16 stars last season which is far fewer than he has managed in previous seasons.

“Maguire is going to be a problem in the summer window,” Parker explained. “I don’t think he wants to leave and I don’t think the clubs want to pay what Man United are valuing him.

“He enjoys being a Man United player and he is probably not ambitious enough to move on and keep his spot in the England squad.

“He might think it’s secured no matter what happens. He has this embedded confidence in himself, which in fact can be called arrogance to be perfectly honest.”

Maguire is contracted with Man United until 2025, with the option of a further year in his contract.

While he might be reluctant to give this contract up, he surely needs to be playing regular football and that is unlikely to happen at Old Trafford.

Gareth Southgate continues to pick Maguire for England, but even he has admitted that he needs to be playing more regularly.

It should be an interesting few months for the defender as he considers what is best for the future.
