Has Liverpool midfield signing from Bayern Munich already been revealed by Jose Enrique?

Enrique reveals Liverpool signing

Ex-Liverpool defender Jose Enrique may have revealed that his former club have already signed one midfielder ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

The Reds are known to be in the market for at least one new midfielder ahead of this summer’s transfer window.

Some of current crop of midfielders – Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – are out of contract in the summer, while others have been a shadow of their best selves this season.

Borussia Dortmund starlet Jude Bellingham is known to be Liverpool’s top target. They are also being linked with the likes of Mason Mount, Matheus Nunes and Declan Rice.

Bayern Munich’s Ryan Gravenberch has also been mentioned as a potential target of late.

The German giants paid around £16m to sign the 20-year-old from Ajax last summer. He has played 24 times this term, but the majority of his appearances have come off the bench. He has only started a total of four games for Bayern Munich across all competitions.

Gravenberch’s name cropped up during a live stream on Enrique’s new YouTube channel on Thursday afternoon.

The 50-minute video is titled ‘trying if it works’ and it sees the pundit get his head around how to stream on YouTube. Around the nine-minute mark, Enrique boldly claimed that Gravenberch is “ours”.

“This player is ours [Liverpool] amigo, Gravenberch,” Enrique said.

His co-host then pointed out: “Yeah, the problem is that his agent is the same agent as Bobby Firmino.”

Enrique then doubled down: “Amigo, it’s the same agent as me! Team Raiola, amigo we had a meeting not long ago in London, this is our player.”

Enrique’s co-host – perhaps wary that the pundit was forgetting that he was live on YouTube – warned him: “Be careful, you’re on live.”

While it would be hilarious if a major summer signing was revealed by Enrique of all people and on YouTube of all places, you have to feel that this is not as cut and dry as Liverpool fans would hope it is.

But it is worth noting that this is Enrique’s first YouTube video and he will know that an outlandish statement like this would get picked up by various websites and newspapers. And in turn, it would get lots of eyes on his new channel and his number of subscribers would get a big boost in the process.

Though as a lover of the prospect of a major Liverpool signing being announced by Enrique, let’s just give him the benefit of the doubt and say it’s true for sh*ts and giggles.

So with that. Welcome to Liverpool, Ryan Gravenberch.
