VfL Wolfsburg have won their first competitive match of the new season, producing a dominant display to beat TuS Koblenz 1-0 in the first round of the DFB Cup on Monday evening. Patrick Wimmer (15’) got the goal for Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side in front of 9,447 fans at the Stadion Oberwerth.
The Wolves will discover their second-round opponents on Sunday 1 September, with ties taking place on 29 and 30 October.
Hasenhüttl’s men are back in action on Sunday 25 August, when they host record champions Bayern Munich at a sold-out Volkswagen Arena in their opening Bundesliga game of the campaign.
