VfL Wolfsburg and David Odogu will continue along the same path together in the coming years after the club handed the talented 18-year-old defender a long-term contract extension shortly before the start of the new season.
Odogu arrived at Wolfsburg from the 1. FC Union Berlin youth academy in summer 2020. Since then, he has made 55 competitive appearances for the Wolves at U17 and U19 level and is now a permanent member of the first-team squad.
The Berlin native attracted particular attention last December when he won the U17 World Cup with Germany in Indonesia.
“We are delighted that we can now continue planning with David,” said VfL sporting director Sebastian Schindzielorz. “He’s a player who we have high hopes for in the coming years. David is already incredibly advanced for his age, but of course he’s nowhere near the end of his development. It’s great to see how he gets involved on a daily basis with a healthy mix of a carefree attitude, humility and self-belief.”
