Lead squandered

VfL-Wolfsburg-Spieler Maehle springt hoch in einem Zweikampf mit einem Augsburg-Spieler.

VfL Wolfsburg lost 3-2 at FC Augsburg on Saturday afternoon, suffering their fourth consecutive away defeat. FCA went in front through Phillip Tietz in the 17th minute, but the Wolves came back into the game and equalised in the 35th minute courtesy of Jonas Wind’s eighth goal of the season. And things got even better on the stroke of half-time, Lovro Majer converting a penalty to make it 2-1.

In the second half, fortune went against VfL, and substitute Sebastiaan Bornauw in particular. The defender’s own goal levelled the score after 79 minutes, before Augsburg substitute Arne Engels completed the turnaround for the hosts just two minutes later.
