The Wolves get Bundesliga Matchday 33 under way in Freiburg’s Europa-Park-Stadion on Friday (kick-off: 20:30 CEST) against a home side already assured of their place in European competition next season.
Freiburg may have lost back-to-back league games for the first time in 2022/23 following defeats against fellow UEFA Champions League hopefuls Leipzig (1-0) and at Union Berlin (4-2), but the Black Forest club are still guaranteed to finish no lower than fifth. As such, they are sure of at least a spot in the UEFA Europa League next term, marking the first time in Freiburg’s history that they have qualified for European football in consecutive seasons.
