Away win in Cologne

VfL-Wolfsburg-Spieler freuen sich über Jonas Wind Treffer gegen Köln.

VfL Wolfsburg made it two wins from two at the start of the Bundesliga season, coming from behind to beat 1. FC Köln 2-1. After a goalless first half, it was only after the break that the hosts began to really threaten and they took the lead through VfL loanee Luca Waldschmidt in the 55th minute. The Wolves responded quickly through Jonas Wind, who then made it 2-1 ten minutes later with his fourth goal of the campaign. It’s the Dane’s first brace away from home for VfL.

1-0 Waldschmidt (55’): The deadlock is broken. Sargis Adamyan gets the ball on the left but is unable to control it properly, letting it run through to Waldschmidt. The VfL loanee curls one into the left corner from 18 metres.

1-1 Wind (62’): Mattias Svanberg superbly tees up Wind in the penalty area. The Denmark international leads the Köln defence a merry dance and slots in from 10 metres, wrongfooting goalkeeper Marvin Schwäbe.

1-2 Wind (72’): The winner is initiated by substitute Maximilian Arnold, who plays a great pass to Joakim Maehle. He finds compatriot Wind in the box, and after his first attempt is parried by Schwäbe, the rebound from eight metres finds the net.
