Acid test against Lens

Die Spieler des VfL-Wolfsburg bejubeln zusammen einen Treffer.

VfL will face big-name European opponents in their preparations for the 2023/24 season. On Saturday 29 July, RC Lens, who finished second in Ligue 1 last season, will visit the AOK Stadion to pit themselves against Nico Kovac’s men.

The northern France club, who are coached by Franck Haise, secured second place in the previous campaign after winning their final seven league games, finishing just a point behind Paris Saint-Germain and qualifying automatically for the Champions League. The Wolves can therefore look forward to a high-quality test in Wolfsburg in between the two training camps in Seefeld (Austria) and Donaueschingen.

After the opening friendly against the Beck’s XI at the Gifhorner Flutmulde on Saturday 15 July, the meeting with Lens is the Green-and-Whites’ second confirmed pre-season fixture of the summer. The opponents for the final warm-up match ahead of the start of the campaign on Saturday 5 August, as part of the VfL stadium festival, are not yet confirmed and will be announced in due course.
