The draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach on matchday 32 ensured that SV Werder will be in the Bundesliga again next season. Ole Werner was pleased that his side were able to achieve their target for the season with two games to go. “Well done to the team,” praised the head coach, though he’s not resting on his laurels just yet. “We’re ambitious and want maximum success from our last two games.”

Success this weekend certainly won’t be easy though. Leipzig are one of the league’s best sides in the final third, and are particularly dangerous in transition and from counter-attacks. “It will be a difficult away game,” stated the 36-year-old. In order to get anything against RB, Werner believes it’s important to cut out any mistakes on the ball and to keep things tight. Even though Marco Rose’s side have already qualified for the Champions League, Werner isn’t expecting Leipzig to take things easy and wants his team to perform well on the day: “We know how difficult a task it is, but we want to leave everything out there and win the game.”

The coach is also fully aware that SVW can climb the table with a win over Leipzig. “I’m not somebody who tends to dream, but I’m somebody that believes in their team,” he said. “We now have something to play for, but we need two good performances and two positive results.”
