Despite injuries restricting him to just six appearances in the Bundesliga, the midfielder has enjoyed his time with the Green-Whites so far. “Everything that I’ve been able to experience here so far has helped build my self-confidence,” said the 22-year-old, who had been open to moving to Germany even before being loaned to Werder. “I told my agent at the end of last season already that I’d like to stay in Bremen – it was an easy decision to make.”
Alvero was able to quickly settle into life in Bremen, having left Olympique Lyon after a difficult period. As a result, the right-footed midfielder is more than pleased at now being able to continue his journey with the Green-Whites. “I want to say thank you to my teammates, who welcomed me so warmly even when I was only here on loan,” he said. “I’m very happy to be able to remain part of this club and this team.”
Head coach Ole Werner also spoke highly of Alvero during the early days of pre-season, although he still sees room for improvement for the youngster. “I’m very happy that the coach spoke positively of me. Two areas that I can still stand to improve in are my finishing and my runs,” said Alvero, who is seeking to continue working on his game in order to see more playing time. “I was sidelined by injuries this past season, so my aim is to play as much as possible this term with the help of my self-confidence and optimism.”
