Marvin Ducksch rounded off a fantastic team move for the winning goal against Coventry City (2-1). The pre-season win in England provided the team with a nice sense of achievement, but also for the Werder attacker personally, after the first four friendly matches had been rather mixed. “We’ve all been self-critical about the previous pre-season games and we’re also annoyed about the results of the friendly matches at the training camp. Despite that, spirits in camp are high. We saw good build-up play against Coventry and, of course, as a player, it’s always nice to get the win,” emphasised the attacker, reflecting on the second pre-season test against the Championship club.
It’s not just the temperatures that are heating up now. As the summer preparations for the new 2024/25 season draw to a close, Marvin Ducksch is raring to go: “I’m at a good level and I’ve focused on training my body, so I’m in good condition. I can’t wait to get going again and start the competitive season. You need to put the work in during pre-season to be able to really get going, so I’m glad we’ve got this final test ahead of us.”
Stade Rennes await the Green-Whites and Ducksch on Saturday for the final pre-season test before the team gets down to business in the DFB-Pokal at Energie Cottbus on Monday (19/08/2024, 18:00 CEST). “Duckschi” feels confident for the upcoming dress rehearsal and then the start of the season: “Everyone knows how we want to go about things and I think we’ve got a lot to play for. I feel very positive and confident.”
