Werder surrender lead to lose

Match Report
Saturday (20:45 CET) could be a day to remember for Marvin Ducksch. Werder Bremen’s striker was visibly delighted about his call-up for the Germany national side and the anticipation ahead of his first game has been building all week. Germany will play two friendlies during the international break, facing off against Turkey at the weekend before clashing with Austria next Tuesday (20:45 CET). It remains to be seen whether Ducksch will make his debut, or even line up alongside his former strike partner Niklas Füllkrug. If that’s the case, chances are that he’ll also be playing against a familiar face. Romano Schmid is in fine form at the moment and will be hoping to be in action for Austria.
Possible clashes between Bremen players
There may also be another encounter between SVW players on Wednesday, as Olivier Deman and Milos Veljkovic will want to be in action for their respective national sides when Belgium face Serbia in a friendly match (18:15 CET). Unlike the Red Devils, Serbia haven’t qualified for next year’s European Championships yet, but can book their spot with a victory over Bulgaria on Sunday (15:00 CET).
Schmid and Deman will be aiming to secure three points with their countries in Group F. Austria play Estonia on Thursday (18:00 CET), while Belgium take on Azerbaijan on Sunday (18:00 CET). Woltemade and the Germany U21s are also vying for Euros qualification. They’ll be in action against the Estonia U21 side on Friday (18:00 CET) before taking on Poland next Tuesday (18:00 CET) and could go top of their group with wins in both games.
Borré and the Colombia national team have qualification for the 2026 World Cup in their sights. The Green-Whites’ striker will travel the furthest distance of any other Bremen player, as Colombia face off against Brazil on Friday (01:00 CET) before an encounter with Paraguay next Wednesday (00:00 CET).
