Fabio Chiarodia leaves Werder Bremen

“Of course, we regret that Fabio has chosen this path, especially because he made the jump from our academy to the first team and was the youngest player in Werder’s history to record a first team appearance. We would have liked to work with him in the long term,” explained Clemens Fritz, head of professional football at Werder Bremen.

“After the contract extension in 2021, which we managed as a second-division club under the existing circumstances, it was clear that it would not be easy to keep him in the long term due to the exit clause. Even then, Fabio was on the list for several clubs both here and abroad. Gerardo Seoane wanted to bring Fabio to Leverkusen last summer and has now apparently worked intensively again to sign him. We wish Fabio all the best on his journey,” concluded Fritz.

Chiarodia moved from VfL Oldenburg to Werder Bremen at the age of nine, where he played through the youth teams and made a total of five appearances for the first team over the last two seasons (three in the Bundesliga, one in the 2. Liga and one in the DFB-Pokal).
