“Mio is at a point in his development where it is extremely important for him to play regularly at a high level. Our talks with Volendam went well, and we’re certain that he will be given an opportunity to do just that while there,” said Clemens Fritz, director of professional football at SV Werder Bremen.
Backhaus joined Werder from Alemmania Aachen’s youth set-up, and featured 16 times for our U19s in the U19 Bundesliga last season. He played a further nine matches with the Werder U23s in the Regionalliga Nord.
