1. FC Union Berlin will take on Maccabi Haifa at the Sammy-Ofer Stadium in the fifth match of Group E in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Thursday’s match takes place 18:45 CET.

Review – The last match:

Union ran out derby winners in Berlin on Saturday, beating Hertha 2-0 at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. Goals from Taiwo Awoniyi and Christopher Trimmel sealed the derby victory and three important Bundesliga points. In Union’s UEFA Europa Conference League campaign, Urs Fischer’s side went down 1-2 at the Olympic Stadium against Dutch side Feyenoord.

Maccabi Haifa – The opposition report:

Maccabi Haifa recently won the first leg against Slavia Prague 1-0 in the UECL. In the second leg against the Czechs, however, the score turned around and Haifa lost 1-0 at Prague’s Sinobo Stadium. In the Ligat Ha’al, however, the Israelis were already warming up. They beat last-placed Kiryat Shmona 4-0 to move into second place behind Hapoel Beer Sheva.

Maccabi Haifa – The coach’s view:

“We know exactly what we have to do. We have to win against Haifa to be able to progress in the last match against Prague. But our approach will not change because of this situation. We have 90 minutes to win this game. Haifa are doing really well at home, they will make life difficult for us,” said head coach Urs Fischer.

Personnel:

Christopher Trimmel and Cedric Teuchert are suspended after the last match at home to Feyenoord. Kevin Behrens remains in quarantine. Laurenz Dehl is missing through injury.

Service:

There will be 600 supporters in Haifa who will support Union. It is advised that all supporters should arrive early at the stadium.

In addition to a valid ticket, proof of vaccination or a negative test result must be presented at the entrance. Wearing a mask off the pitch is compulsory in the stadium and smoking and alcohol are prohibited. Further important information on visiting the stadium can be found here.
