After ten days, ten training sessions and two matches (in one day) at the Spanish winter training camp in Campoamor, the 1. FC Union Berlin team has finally landed safely back in Berlin and arrived at home, the stadium An der Alten Försterei.

No more sunshine, no more sweating… briefly

After several “long and intensive days with a lot to do”, as head coach Urs Fischer described them, all of the travelling companions had the opportunity to put their feet up a little during the return journey. During the 60-minute drive to Murcia airport after the last joint breakfast, the players in particular used the time to read, sleep or reflect on the past few days. A similar picture emerged after the take-off when everyone was happy to finally be going home.

For the coaching team, the days when their stringent “training planning” and “content preparation” or even the careful division of the players into individual groups held in the gorgeous evening sun have come to an end. From now on, this will happen again in wintry Köpenick.

After the plane touched down upon German soil at around 2:15 p.m., the team headed directly towards Köpenick to the stadium An der Alten Försterei, where players, coaches and support staff said their goodbyes, and could look forward to some well-deserved free time. If only for one day.

Quote of the day: “Of course it was long and exhausting, but we worked well and had good conditions,” was the ultimate conclusion of head coach Urs Fischer.
