Hamburger SV secured third place in Bundesliga 2 on Sunday, setting up a tie against VfB Stuttgart in the promotion/relegation play-off.
“Matches between VfB and HSV are among the most tradition-steeped meetings in German football,” said VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth. “I’m sure the fans will create a special atmosphere in both legs. We know we’re facing two tough matches on Thursday and Monday. Our team has gained much greater stability under Sebastian Hoeneß and in the play-off we want to build on our performances in recent weeks and do everything we can to stay up.”

The first leg will take place in Stuttgart on 1 June, with the return leg scheduled for 5 June in Hamburg. Both matches will kick-off at 20:45 CEST.
