The last two matches have seen VfB prove that you can never count them out. Against both Dortmund (3-3) and Augsburg (1-1), head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’ men came from behind to snatch a draw, making it nine and then ten points so far this season that they have picked up from losing positions. “It was a tough match against Augsburg – they’re a difficult team on their home patch,” said VfB defender Waldemar Anton, looking back at his side’s most recent Bundesliga outing. “In the first half, we weren’t coming out on top of the one-on-ones, but we dug deep mentally and the fans also helped us get back into the contest.”

Saturday will see the next step in the team’s bid to hold onto their Bundesliga spot with the visit of Borussia Mönchengladbach. Kick-off is at 15:30 CEST, with the Mercedes-Benz Arena already sold out for the occasion. “Every point counts,” Anton concluded. “Our fans always give us fantastic support and I hope that we can give something back to them on Saturday with our performance.”
