On Thursday afternoon the VfB first team completed their fifth training session of the week. There were open-to-the-public sessions on Tuesday and Thursday morning, as well as additional intensive workouts and running exercises as Sebastian Hoeneß gets his charges ready for their first competitive game of the season in the DFB Cup first round against TSG Balingen on 12 August.

With that in mind, set-pieces and match formations were on the agenda for Borna Sosa and Co on Thursday morning. The approximately 500 fans in attendance got to witness diverse free-kick and corner routines that could be put into practice right away this weekend.

Friendlies against Mönchengladbach and 1860 Munich

On Saturday afternoon, VfB will face Borussia Mönchengladbach (at 16:15 CEST) and TSV 1860 Munich (at 17:30 CEST) at the Heimstetten Sportpark near Munich. The boys from Cannstatt have won each of their three warm-up games so far this summer, against a Hohenlohe XI (3-0), SSV Reutlingen (4-0) and Vitesse Arnhem (2-1).
