Early lead

Sebastian Hoeneß’s side enjoyed a perfect start, with Serhou Guirassy firing them in front in the 11th minute from Angelo Stiller’s incisive pass.

Big lead at the break

Just six minutes later, Undav robbed Robin Koch of possession, skipped past Willian Pacho and drilled into the bottom corner to double the lead. VfB remained in control, looked much the better side and effectively put the game to bed in the 37th minute when Jamie Leweling raced through to make it 3-0.

VfB dominant

Stuttgart refused to loosen their grip after the interval, and although they let Frankfurt see more of the ball, the visitors rarely troubled Fabian Bredlow, while VfB remained threatening on the counter.

Undav almost scored his second in the 69th minute when he narrowly fired wide of the target from the edge of the area. Seven minutes later, Bredlow reacted brilliantly to stop Omar Marmoush’s stinging free-kick, allowing VfB to see a deserved victory over the line.

Goals

11’: Stiller lofts a superb pass through to Guirassy, who goes one-on-one with Kevin Trapp, lifting the ball over the goalkeeper and into the top corner.

17’: Undav nicks the ball off Koch, gets the better of Pacho and then places a shot inside the bottom-left corner to make it 2-0.

37’: Undav threads an inviting ball through for Leweling to chase. He bears down on goal with only Trapp to beat and pokes in VfB’s third of the game.

Memorable moment: Guirassy scored his 25th Bundesliga goal of the campaign to set a new single-season club record.
