Germany rounded off the final international window of 2024 with a 1-1 draw in Hungary on Tuesday evening. Alexander Nübel delivered a fine display in goal as the home side registered 16 attempts – including six on target – but he was eventually beaten by a penalty deep into second-half stoppage time. “It was fun,” Nübel said in a post-match TV interview. “The mood among us goalkeepers is good.”
Chris Führich was also named in the starting XI and played until the 61st minute, while Maximilian Mittelstädt was an unused substitute.
El Bilal and Demirovic on target
El Bilal and Mali clinched their place at the Africa Cup of Nations with a 6-0 victory over Eswatini. The VfB man opened the scoring but had to be replaced five minutes before the break.
Ermedin Demirovic cancelled out Netherlands’ opener as Bosnia & Herzegovina drew 1-1 with the Oranje. The striker was taken off in the 86th minute of the contest.
Woltemade sets up opener
Elsewhere, Germany Under-21s drew 2-2 with France in a friendly. Nick Woltemade was named in the starting XI and set up Germany’s fifth-minute opener before coming off four minutes from time. Frans Krätzig was an unused substitute.
