1. FSV Mainz 05 have completed the signing of Marcus Ingvartsen on a permanent basis from Union Berlin. The 26-year-old attacker, who arrived on loan at the start of 2021/22 including an option to buy, played 27 times in all competitions for the Zerofivers this season, scoring seven goals, including a brace on the final day against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Mainz sporting director Martin Schmidt commented: “The buy option that we had in his contract already showed that we wanted to have Marcus here for a long time. He impressed with his quality on the ball, his finishing and his eye for goal this season. We’re delighted that he will continue to fulfill his full potential with us here in the coming years.”

“Marcus quickly became a part of the group and settled in at Mainz 05, even though this season wasn’t the easiest for him due to injuries. The fact that he still managed seven goals showed what kind of potential he has. Marcus has different strengths to his teammates up front and we believe that he’ll play an even bigger role here next season,” said head coach Bo Svensson.
